I am beyond excited to finally unveil the cover for Wings of Ember! After about five years of drafting, writing, rewriting, and rewriting again for good measure, it’s finally here.
The Journey to the Perfect Cover
From the beginning I knew that I wanted to feature a phoenix, but that was about it. The color scheme, title font, and overall style all came much later.
I knew that I didn’t want it to seem like a medieval fantasy and wanted to represent the more industrial setting in some way. That’s when my colleague suggested opting for an art deco design to really stand out.
When thinking about the color scheme, I knew that I wanted blue to be featured pretty heavily as the main color of the Umbral Guard, the powerful organization that the main characters join and the book centers around.
Working with Mibilart
With these prompts, the talented artists at Mibilart were able to make this amazing cover on the first go! I was honestly blown away by the result. Having this very visual milestone to getting my book ready has made the finish line seem even closer in sight.
I can’t wait to share more updates, including the release date and some tidbits about the world, soon!
